If you’ve recently installed a home theater system or surround sound, you’re probably familiar with that thrilling feeling of hitting the “play” button. And that thrill gets just a little more intense when you’re playing the right movie. Sure, Sense and Sensibility might be a great movie, but it’s not exactly doing your home theater system any favors. To really show off your sound, you need movies with great explosions, gripping action and a killer score. So what should you be renting? We’ve got the list.

The Dark Knight

You already know it’s a great movie, but have you ever thought about the score? This movie’s got it all – bass heavy music that will reverberate throughout your living room. Add to it the near-constant action and diabolical joker laugh and you’ve got yourself a great Friday night.

Casino Royale

You can’t really go wrong with James Bond. With frequent explosions, gun shots and some hand-to-hand combat (in tuxedoes no less), you’ll dig watching this flick at home. Not to mention that that oh-so-familiar theme song will sound just great in your living room.

Star Trek

The men (and/or electronics buffs) in the room will really love the sound of the space-age audio in this action adventure flick. And the ladies? Well, Chris Pine stars in the show. Need we say more?

Wall-E

Who says you can’t enjoy a kids movie on your home theater system? Pixar does the home theater system owner a favor with Wall-E, which touts an impressive soundtrack that can really captivate the kiddos and adults alike.

The Godfather

Possibly the quintessential shoot-em-up movie out there; if you haven’t watched The Godfather at home, you’re in for a treat. And the best part? As a trilogy, you can make your movie night into movie marathon night.
